Many people use New Years as a time to
set new goals, start new projects or revitalize old
ones. Losing weight, making more money, finding a
new relationship, or a new job are always at the top of
most lists.
Fact is - most people already know
what they need to do, what they want or need to change
in their life. Its usually painfully obvious.
What they don't know is how to get it done.
That's the hard part. Here are my 3 Power Steps to
changing anything - including what you don't like about
your life.
1.
Focus on where you want to go - not where you're at.
Most people have their thinking stuck in the here and
now. Day dreaming and wishful thinking about
moving on to a better situation in life just isn't
enough to get the process going!
You may not realize that your mind is
a task oriented tool and right now you've got its focus
dead set on
keeping you right where you are. If you want to
change then you've got to give your mind new operating
instructions.
The key to giving your mind new
instructions is to write them down. Make a
list. Create a work order. Design you life as
you want it to be! Write it down on paper.
The acting of writing is the key power step that refocuses
the mind on the new task - on the future - and erases
its focus on the past
or the present. Design what you want - not what
you got! Here's how.
2.
Ask
Empowering Questions. Who, what, where, when, how.
Anything that changes your life
probably involves information you don't currently know.
Face it, if you already had the answers to these
questions - you'd probably already have what you want.
You have to ask questions - Who can
help me get what I want? How can I learn what I need to
know. A key point here -Be sure to ask
people who know. Go straight to the experts -
and be sure to skip friends and relatives unless they
happen to have the expertise you seek. Remember
step 1 - write down the questions and the answers.
3. Change your life one day at a time!
That's how life works - so use it to your advantage by breaking your goal or life
changing project into mini projects. Bricklayers
build towering walls one brick at a time starting with the
foundation and that's how
to approach your project.
Your action step each day is to set aside
time to first review your overall plan and then work on
the appropriate mini project. Don't let a day
go by without reviewing and working on your project.
If you hit a roadblock - that's the
time to drop back to steps 1 and 2. Write down the
situation and possible solutions. Then start
asking some more questions. Don't stop asking
until you get the answers you need to move on. Ask
until your receive!
That's It!
So - Let's Get Some Action Here.
What do you
want to... Have? Be? Do?
Experience? ......
Write it down.
Write down what to do first,
who's going to help, where do you go to get the
info, how you going to do it, what's the next thing
to do, what's the next, and the next, when ......
That's it! Now just follow your power
list - one day at a time.
